Bob's Discount Furniture Sucks
Okay so the prices are good. I ordered and everything arrived fine. The customer service line is a BIG nightmare. Trying to get a human on the line sends you in a maze of menu's that are very limited and has no option to talk with a human.
This inadequate customer service line is poor judgment and can show that a company is scared of complaints and is not going to help you with any of those complaints. If I knew this before my purchase I would not of shopped at Bob's and expect that you exercise extreme caution before using Bob's furniture for your next purchase.
Update: So I had my sofa/couch for under 2 years and the top the the coach is starting to turn white. Unfortunately Bob's Goof proof protection plan is won't cover it because the terms are so limited it's worthless.

In June 2011 I purchased a 5 piece sectional sofa. The sales man gave many stories on why I should purchase the goof proof, believing that if something would happen the Goof proof would cover I bought the sofa's beige. I had family come over from NYC and their two year old ball pen one of the sofa's and did some damages with liquids as well. I call the claims department on 12/7 and they informed me that thet denied the claim. When I asked to speak to a supervisor the CSR named Ruby did not give me her last name of allowed me to speak with the supervisor. That is 150.00 that was given to Bob's for free, because I also found out today that many claims are denied. My family and friends buy from their because I am constantly letting them know to go their but I will no longer reference Bob as a trustworthy company to buy and purchace goof proof and furniture after this event.

WOW! There's not one positve message. This is sad! well I'll find out tomorrow. I just bought a dining Pub set. I hope i did'nt waste my money. In any event I would never buy a bedroom set from a place like Bob's. Go to place like macys, raymour, Bloomies ect, I mean really people your talking about comfort on your back and resting. As far as the living room set It's the same as above. Um I'm glad i did'nt pay alot for my set. I'll keep you all posted. If I don't like what I see when the deliverymen set it up it will be leaving with them. You get what you pay for. Thank God it's only a table set.

Hi christina
i bet you are poseing as christina but you are bob and trying to save face for the crap you sell, this furniture looks like junk made from poor quality materials with
third world child labor.i waited on hold for 35 minutes
to see if the plastic handle for my junk recliner was coverd
under warrantee, after that long i gave up.before i bought my reclinerfrom Boobs discount crap,i stoped at Raymor and flannigan and looked at a Lazy Boy for only two hundred more
after 4 trips to BOOBS,TWO CHAIRS AND ENDLESS TIME ON THE PHONE.THAT 200 WOULD HAVE SAVED ME 1000.BOOB IS A HEARTLESS LIAR AND A CROOK WHO SHOULD BE JAILED FOR MISREPRESENTATION.
I THINK THAT BLOGGERS AND ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN DOOPED BY
BOOBS SHOULD PROTEST OUTSIDE HIS STORES LIKE THE OCCUPY BOSTON KIND OF THING.As i sit here and write this I look over at my recliner that is stuck open and wonder???????

Never buy a dining table set from BOB's. It looked good and within a week of buying it, the color started to fade away. Now its been a year that i bought it and without having used it as much, it looks ten years old. The colors are peeling off, the screws from the chairs are constantly coming off etc etc....BIG MISTAKE!

Bob's goof proof is a scam. They sell you their protection but when you need it, its through the company Guardsman who basically will deny your claim after you fill out their paperwork.
Avoid Bobs but if you must buy from them, dont buy the protection. That would be just giving money to Guardsman for no reason. Bob's and Guardsman... both scumbag companies.

There are two things I wouldn't do. First, I would never buy anything from Bob's ever again and second, I wouldn't recommend leaving Bob alone with any children.

My parents purchased a beautiful 3-pieice leather recliner set from Bob's. They also got end tables and matching lamps. That was in 2009 and everything is still in beautiful condition. My father, who is very picky, tells me how much he loves it. I purchased a similar set from Macy's Furniture for more than $5,000.00 and my set isn't as nice and is showing signs of wear, unlike my parents' that came from Bobs. I just think with furniture there are always going to be horror stories with each store.

I will never never buy another thing at Bob's Discount Furnitue at any of his stores especially the one near the Smith Haven Mall off of Middle Country Road. They don't help you out especially when you already paid for the merchandise and don't have the merchandise. My experience with them was terrible. Finally got some help about a delivery date when I told them I would get help from the law. It took us 3 months to get part of what we ordered that was paid for because we had to when we got a first delivery date. Finally after 4 deivery dates we got what we ordered.

I ordered a new living room ste for my wife for christmas. Thought I was dealing with a decent company. I told the sales man that i needed delivery on 12/28/2011 because i will be home from work, he said no problem so I bought the set. They call to confirm the deilvery a few day prior. they had the wrong address. So we corrected that. the day of delivery i logged on to bob's online delivery tracker. they still had the wrong address, i called the customer support number, what a joke that is. you get passed along to at least a dozen people and left on hold for 20 minutes to a half hour per tranfer to get someone who assures me that my delivery will be ontime and he has made the address correction, 30 minutes later i get a call from bob's stating that they are rescheduling my delivery for the following week. I told them I couldnt take off work agin and thats why I requested the 28th. they didnt care. I cancelled my order and they didnt even try to accomidate me. They just dont care about customer satisfaction. My opinion Bob's furniture will not be a long term business. very unfreindly staff and no one can make a decision without contacting at least two higher level supervisors. Dont buy from them buyer beware.

After reading all the complaints about bobs stores i will pay a few more dollars at sleepys !!!
Monday January 2, 2012 @ 10:31 PM
You paid $600 for a mattress and expected it to last longer than it took for the delivery truck to drive out of sight? C'mon people! USE YOUR HEADS! If you paid less than $1600 for a mattress set, you'll be replacing it in no time. You don't shop at Bobs for things like that. You get what you pay for at Bobs. Cheap throw away furniture...maybe for a kids room knowing they'll outgrow it or something similar.
Wednesday January 4, 2012 @ 06:32 PM
We purchased a living room set that had a strong chemical smell, Ive called Customer Service numerous times with no answer.
Monday January 9, 2012 @ 12:08 PM

WORST FURNITURE STORE IN HISTORY!Went to buy furniture for my new apartment. Needed at least a couch by Friday. After the first 3 we picked out was not available, we got frustrated and told them to tell us which one was available by Friday as we needed it for a housewarming party and for a guest to sleep on over the weekend. We settled on one that was available and would be delivered by Friday afternoon. Upon paying for cash and delivery, the guy at the desk told us that no, in fact they could not deliver it, but we could pick it up. 30 minutes later (this is how long it took them how to figure out how to credit us our delivery fee back) We told them we would send a moving truck to get it. We left super annoyed and unsatisfied. Fast forward to Friday. We send the movers with the reciepts to pick up the couch and the couch is not only NOT THERE, it is NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL FEB 2012!! (Thi was in DEC. that we bought the couch) Are you kidding me?! That is the ONLY reason we bought the "last available resort" and spent $75 for a freaking moving truck!! I called the 800 line and reamed out a manager that told me to calm down and was exceptionally rude considering that Bob's failed in every single way possible?. They also said they could not issue a cash refund so I had to wait on a corporate check,. I went into the store a week later, to check on the status of our reimbursement and I sat at the counter for 15 minutes with only one person in front of me.. I went to the big black woman at her computer who never even acknowledged me for 10 minutes as she gossiped with a co worker standing in front of her and she told me she was busy and to go to the other lady who was dealing with another angry customer!. 10 minutes later after that, I was still in line, so she basically was like, "Fine, I guess Ill actually help you:." She looked up my account and told me that the check should be in the mail.. Its three weeks later and I have not received it yet". I have never had a worse experience and will NEVER EVER shop or even set foot in a Bob's furniture again/. I guess I am not the first to have this happen to, I dont understand how they can be in business with such incompetent staff and the mishandling of purchases/orders!

Worst decision EVER!!!
I purchased the most expensive bedroom set from Bobs Discount furniture thinking that it would be sturdy and not fall apart on me anytime soon. 30 days after, all 4 of the wooden slates that hold up the boxspring snapped in half down the middle. Spent 2300 on the bedroom set. Customer service is a joke. I don't know how Bobs stayed in business this long. NO ONE should EVER buy from Bobs Discount Furniture!!!

OK.. first of all, if you go to Bob's thinking that you are getting "high" quality furniture than you are not doing the necessary research into what you are buying.
I am looking into buying some furniture that will get us a few years down the road. Do you think for $800 you are going to get a "high" quality couch & loveseat combo? Ha!
Buy from Bob's if you want some furniture that will hold up for a few years (up to 5-6 years), and then save for more sturdy items when you can. Bob's is there to provide mid-line furniture for those that don't feel that $2000 for a loveseat is a fair deal either. It wouldn't hurt to grab a socket wrench and tighten up all the bolts for the furniture to ensure that it was assembled completely.
To address Jennifer from NY: If that is all that broke on the bed, spend $20 on some lumber from Home Depot and put a proper support system under you bed frames. I know it is annoying, but Bob's is nothing but furniture to fill the room and not to keep forever.
Bob's Furniture has some quality items and some crappy customer service, so buy with the knowledge that you are bound to have some issues, and if you think you are buying GREAT furniture, you are wrong. You can spend $800 on a decent couch/loveseat at Bob's or you can spend $4500 for the same thing at Thomasville or maybe $2500 at Raymour/Flanigan.
If quality is your issue, be ready to pay for it; else shut the **** up and crying when you buy from Bobs Furniture and complain when it doesn't go so well.

I want to get a fire place for my apt but reading all this negative comments from Bob's iam not sure if its safe to purchase any item from them, especially reading there protection plan on funiture it sounds ridiculous. Well guess will just do my shopping at Raymour&Flanigan safe and secure.
