Bob's Discount Furniture Sucks
Okay so the prices are good. I ordered and everything arrived fine. The customer service line is a BIG nightmare. Trying to get a human on the line sends you in a maze of menu's that are very limited and has no option to talk with a human.
This inadequate customer service line is poor judgment and can show that a company is scared of complaints and is not going to help you with any of those complaints. If I knew this before my purchase I would not of shopped at Bob's and expect that you exercise extreme caution before using Bob's furniture for your next purchase.
Update: So I had my sofa/couch for under 2 years and the top the the coach is starting to turn white. Unfortunately Bob's Goof proof protection plan is won't cover it because the terms are so limited it's worthless.

Purchased sofa set just under two years ago. Noticed small 1/2 tear in on cushion, Call Guards man and they said it was was not covered, also called Bobs and no help at all. The policy states rips and cuts! Whets up with bobs and guardsman, what a rip-off.

I've purchased a cocktail table set from Bob's on Aug. 2009 along with the Goof Protection Plan (since the table tops were from glass). Accidentally 3 weeks ago the table top to the big cocktail-table breaks - so I claimed the damage immediately - 2 weeks later Guardsman approves that the entire set to be replaced (as per the contract stipulation - if 2 more items are having the same SKU they will be considered as being 1 and the full set will be replaced/ reimbursed-Service Procedures -The Goof Protection is an entirely new contract, completely separate contract from the Buying/Selling Agreement existing with Bob's. So having a letter from Guardsman confirming that they agreed to replace the entire set I went to the Store to pick my items -but for my stupefaction BOB's asking to bring back to the store the table bases WHY ???? - nowhere in the Protection Agreement is mentioned something like this (Guardsman owns the salvage but they told me to discharge the broken items ????) What is the role of Bob in the insurance agreement - they are only an intermediary at the time of the sale of the insurance/protection - I am really confused! I will go to Bob's tomorrow to speak with a manager ... Now I have 3 table tops w/o bases :)
Furthermore once a claim made under the Goof Protection - that item is not covered for any future damage as per the Service Procedures listed in the Goof Protection Agreement
IfI will not have a satisfactory response tomorrow, next will contact BBB

I have never bought a thing from that store, and after being bombarded by an endless barrage of moronic radio and television commercials I never will. At first, "Bob" was just a little goofy, but now I can't stand the sight or sound of that idiot. And that's just how he appears. An idiot. I'm offended by the thought that they think we are all mindless lemmings that will flock to their store if they just keep jamming their commercials in our face. Cardi's and Jordans is just as bad.

Yes, they suck, don't follow through, sell crap, lie, steal, misrepresent products, etc.. The corp number from above is nothing more than a customer service number. Don't buy from them. They don't unsuck. They suck.

We had a really bad experience with the quality of Bob's furniture. We bought the Hampton Red sofa and chair with the sofa as a sleeper. This is a very nice looking sofa with red stripes that matched our livingroom and decor perfectly. It took a long time shopping at comparable stores like Jordan's or Ikea to find a style we liked. Our problems started right at the delivery. It took three tries to get the sofa delivered without the legs broken off! This was a bad sign to start. After 3 months of use this couch literally collapsed underneath us. The entire frame pulled apart and ripped the fabric. Upon close inspection the frame is made of particle board and held together with staples. We had them exchange the couch for a non sleeper because the couch and chair matched our room so well but this couch is extremely cheaply made! How much more would a few pieces of real wood and screws on the frame cost? It definitely should not be sold as a sleeper! Additionally we had to be home on 5 occasions to get this resolved (both my wife and I work), had a broken couch over the holiday with no place for guests to sit, and did not get a full credit back (State of MA will not give back tax after 90 days of purchase and we had to pay tax again on the replacement). All this aggrivation and a letter written to Bob Kaufman with no apologies or compensation. I will say we had a really good experience with our salesperson and liked their selection/style in the showroom, but the furniture is cheaply made! Customer service was not as bad as some other folks have noted and I honestly think they were doing what they could within their "rules" but none of that can make up for the cheaply made couch that we now overpaid for. Be very careful of what lies beneath the nice looking fabric or shop elsewhere. My previous couch from Jordans lasted 15 years...I am waiting for this one to collapse every time I go to sit down!

I'm actually really surprised at the number of complaints because I've bought a number of pieces of furniture from them and have never had an issue.
I've spoken with their customer service a few times and had no problem getting through to a human and scheduling service. They were actually very nice and helpful - My bed is sagging in the middle and a technician came out and agreed. They gave me a credit for the full amount without question.
I had to laugh at the person complaining about delivery taking all day - That is delivery in general - not anything unique to Bob's.
Maybe I got lucky, but some people must be happy because he just opened his 30-somethingth store.

I just took delivery of a dining set and a hutch. Not only is the finish on the hutch poor in a few spots, it has paint ground into the finish where it came around the corner against my wall. The table was left with staples sticking sharp point down from the underside of the table. The chairs were left with the plastic on the cushions with no way to remove it all without removing the chair seat. When the legs were attached to the chairs there were tags hanging by strings stapled to the underside of the chair and the tags were caught in between the leg and the seat and tightend right into the chair. It will have to be taken apart to get the tag out. There were fabric strips left hanging from the bottom of the chairs by the staples used for packing the legs under the chairs. The shelves were never removed from the box and put in the hutch and if that isnt enough they never even told me they had damaged my wall. They will be coming back to pick up the entire order and giving me a refund but I am concerned about any more damage being done to my home. The best it looks like I can hope for is a refund from a bad experience and damage left I need to fix in my house. All in all the entire experience is not only been unpleasant but is costing me money.

I purchased a new bedroom set from the Bob’s store in Worcester Mass at the end of Jan. I was told everything except the bed was in the warehouse and the backorder should only take about 3-4 weeks. I paid in full on my credit card. After 4 weeks when I didn’t hear from them I called to check on the status and was informed the bed was in stock but 3 other pieces were on backorder now. I asked what happened to them because they were in stock when I placed my order. They told me because I had not scheduled delivery sometimes the warehouse will allocate the furniture to other orders that are ready for delivery. So they basically sold my furniture to someone else. I said how could I have scheduled delivery if the bed was not in stock, and if I chose to wait for these 3 pieces to arrive what will prevent Bob’s from selling the bed that’s in stock now? This could go on forever! That’s Sleazy!
I heard apologies and promises to try and expedite the items. I asked, how if it’s not in the warehouse. She told me if a manager or salesman get involved they might be able to divert some pieces that are not ready for delivery, perhaps because they were not paid in full yet. So they were going to screw someone else! I made it clear I had no confidence that this was going to work out and was prepared to cancel my order if my furniture was not scheduled for delivery this week. She promised to do her best and call me back with a status in a few minutes. She called to offer more apologies for not having the time to get to my request because it was so busy. So I was not important enough! They were too busy lining up their next victims. After waiting a couple of hours I decided to drive the 30 minutes to get a full refund. I was both glad and surprised there was no hassle getting a credit against my card. Surprised because no one seemed to even care they just lost an $1800 sale, not to mention a customer for life. The C/S person called back 4 ½ hours later with more apologies and mentioned she was aware I had already been there to get a full refund. The customer service folks in Worcester were polite but in the end not helpful. Bob’s business practices are sleazy and at the heart of the problem. If any sales person or manager has the ability to steal the furniture from your paid in full order, that is just wrong. Run, don’t walk away from Bob’s Discount Furniture.

I purchased a sofa from Bob's thinking it was leather only to find out later it was bonded. Felt like an idiot but it was my fault since leather does not sell for the price I paid. That said the sofa is fine, comfortable and looks great. Had it for a few months and its still looks like new. Also bought bedroom set - fit and finish is not great but was comparable to the in store samples. Also bought two queens sized mattresses that are very comfortable. Delivery experience was not bad as was our experience with customer service. I guess on these chat rooms you hear about the worst experiences. My experiences with Bob's were not terrible and I got good looking furniture for cheap prices.

I bought a sofa and love seat in September, "THE HAMPTON RED". I have had to exchange the sofa twice...This is a very poorly made sofa. There are so many flaws. And now I need to exchange the couch again. It teared at the seems again , the arm rests are so terribly made you can see the wood through the fabric! The Cushions look ten years old. Today i was told If i decide i want a refund, i will get 100% back for the sofa and 90% for the love seat. I will never buy from BOBS ever again! EVER!!!

I have had a very similar experience with a couch set I purchased from the Seabrook NH store. I also purchased the Guardsman Elite protection plan. This plan states it covers tears. I had a tear reported and fixed Sept. 2008. I called this October and reported another tear, identical to the first, different spot. It took Guardsman 11 days to call me to inform me that this tear would not be covered. I asked to speak to a manager, who then refused to offer an explanation as to why it would not be covered this time, or why I was notifed the firs tear should not have been covered. However, the possible specifically states tears are covered. I asked to have repairman visit to inspect the tear. Denied. She indicated that the first tear should not have been covered. I let her know that I was filing a report with the BBB in michigan for Guardsman, and that I would also file a report with Bob's. However, all I could do from their website was ask a question. I asked and will wait for their explanation. I am curious as to why with all the bad reports you read about Bob's and Guardsman, why the BBB has not taken some sort of action against them.
