Paychex Sucks
1.) Some of Paychex representatives are not competent or do not care. I've seen instances where paychex failed to provide social security numbers for employees on Government filed reports. Getting a social security number is not hard to get for an employee and they should know better than to file payroll returns and W-2's with out this REQUIRED information. This lack of care leads to payroll tax notices the company receives and could lead to penalties. And it is hard to get paychex to handle payroll tax notices even if it is their screw up.
2.) Paychex 401k fees are high and absurd. I have 401k with them and they charged me almost 20% in fees on my contributions. They call the fee the "Mid-Atlantic Trustee Fee". Such a high fee is unexplainable and shows that they don't care about the end customer and only care about profit. If my employer didn't match my contribution I would need to earn >20% from my investments which is not plausible in most instances. Furthermore, no statements or account information I received from Paychex gives information on how this fee is calculated.
3.) Payroll Reports - Paychex payroll reporting sucks. They need a system where their reports can be export to .CSV or excel format (NOT txt or unicode) for easy file keeping and application into accounting systems.

Paychex is ripping everyone off on 401k fees. It is getting out of control. Attention all owners who use Paychex: Please check your billing to make sure you are not one of these customers being over charged.

Paychex Dallas Office management team is really bad, Beware!
Tuesday August 16, 2011 @ 03:49 PM
All of their offices are bad. They only care about how much money they can suck out from clients and have absolutely no customer service.

I am a Paychex competitor and what is so sad is that they truly train their payroll specialists well. We prefer to hire from Paychex above all other service bureaus because of the high level of training they receive. However, they are overloaded with such huge client loads they cannot possibly meet client expectations. The result is high employee burnout and turnover. This company could be a lot more successful if they got back to the service aspect and chilled on the $$$ for a minute. Doesn't bother me, I get their dissatisfied clients. However, I hate to see anyone go through what some clients have had to endure. Customer service is a dying practice.

You wanna know how Gaychex works. Ok, first and foremost they could could care less about their employees. DO NOT believe what you hear about this place being a top 100 company to work for. Second, they do not care about YOU!!! Their motto, "You don't like us....leave us." And trust me, many clients do. Third, women suck off managers to get ahead. Give head, get ahead. Fourth, they'll hire unqualified minorities just to look diversified.......Nice place to work.

The third comment is exactly true. Take it from a top dog's ex wife who knows how all of them screwed. Especially on their little rewards vacations

You can file complaints with the department of labor and/or ERISA for issues with 401(k), unless your employer is in a PEO relationship the responsible party is the employer (the plan sponsor) not Paychex.

What in the hell did i stumble into? this morass reminds me of a Jerry Springer episode. How can there possibly be any dispute that Paychex is a dirty slum of a company?
Why are there so many people here contributing these wildly different opinions? only one explanation: They are trolls within Paychex who are actually proud of their $9/hour call center job.
Still, this is baffling.

I have a SSN issue with Paychexx that the rep refuses to correct. They not only screwed up my number once, but twice!! This office (marlton Nj) has really stupid people, and they lack any customer service skills and really bad--they lack the ability to pay attention to details that affect people's lives.
I am complaining to the BBB and I recommend everyone who has to deal with Paychex do so.
Friday September 23, 2011 @ 08:19 AM
Paychex not only needs to be reported to BBB but also to the state labor departments concerning their "Push 'em out the door" antics.
Tuesday September 27, 2011 @ 04:29 PM
Paychex needs to be shut down, like right now. If you only knew how bad they treat their employees, no one would business with them. Stay away from this company!!

I was seriously thinking about investing in Paychex stock ... until I did a little research and ended up at this site. NO NO NO! PS: Husbands paycheck is done by an in-house payroll clerk using Intuit Quickbooks - Quicken. No mistakes ever (of course a great payroll clerk has something to do with this). I suggest all unhappy Paychex clients buy stock in Intuit (INTU) THEN purchase Quicken.
Sounds like a plan.

Paychex can't get my 401K contribution right. I have to call them monthly just to get my contribution right. Sadly, I'll miss the max contribution this year because of their incompetence. How sad is that?

What a bunch of nonsense, all the ex employees are probably bitter non performers who couldn't cut it so were fired and the complainers are just whiners...get a life

[at] Paychex Alternative! = ADP may have a better product but the customer service is horrendous and the price of doing business with ADP can put a severe hurt on a business financially. Last year my company researched switching to ADP .... now ADP wants to lock an employer into a 3 to 5 contract ... obviously because once a client signs up with ADP, there is NO customer service. ADP will never again be the payroll provider for my company.
