Paychex Sucks
1.) Some of Paychex representatives are not competent or do not care. I've seen instances where paychex failed to provide social security numbers for employees on Government filed reports. Getting a social security number is not hard to get for an employee and they should know better than to file payroll returns and W-2's with out this REQUIRED information. This lack of care leads to payroll tax notices the company receives and could lead to penalties. And it is hard to get paychex to handle payroll tax notices even if it is their screw up.
2.) Paychex 401k fees are high and absurd. I have 401k with them and they charged me almost 20% in fees on my contributions. They call the fee the "Mid-Atlantic Trustee Fee". Such a high fee is unexplainable and shows that they don't care about the end customer and only care about profit. If my employer didn't match my contribution I would need to earn >20% from my investments which is not plausible in most instances. Furthermore, no statements or account information I received from Paychex gives information on how this fee is calculated.
3.) Payroll Reports - Paychex payroll reporting sucks. They need a system where their reports can be export to .CSV or excel format (NOT txt or unicode) for easy file keeping and application into accounting systems.

Paychex is just another leach that takes advantage of people trying to stash a little money away for when they get too old to work. Anyone with any sense can see that the fees eat away most of the tax advantage of having a 401K. You're better off on your own than participating in these scams that prey on the working folks. Go online and research simple investments. Ask a local banker for advice.

It's 2017 and paychex is still screwing my pay up every other week! That company is a joke!

Yup, Paychex are charging me for HR services and a 401k plan I didn't even sign up for!

Its not just one branch , it is the entire company. Check more reviews. They are all true and correct, IT has happened ti us all who have used Paychex.

Why do they have you make a password then not let you use it? They want to send verification code to let me in but I can't recieve texts right now. Isn't this the purpose of the password? I'm ready to quit this job over their poor choice in payroll service. Not impressed.

My PayChex website was manipulated when someone got into my system and clocked my employee in and out. Now I’m being accused of doing it.

Hi Guys, I am in the Same Boat. I see "MidAtlantic Trust Fee" of $549+ charged every four weeks. Is this a Fee to Maintain Mutual Funds? As they are associated with Mutual Funds? I have close to $67k in Metlife Gac Series 25053 0 and I get charged $512 every four weeks. I am wondering if I move the allocation to SDBA Available Cash will I still be charged this fee?

To the Paychex employee: As a Super Admin User, I am on Paychex daily. The modules do not always work, I frequently receive a "sorry, something went wrong" message when attempting to update an employee's information. It does not do this for all employees. Even when I generate or download reports from Paychex, the information on the report does not match the information that is actually in Paychex. I have 0 confidence in Paychex and constantly need to review and verify the report for accuracy. Paychex may have been good for the times 30+ years ago, however, there are too many issues for me to list; I could write a book.

Anyone using Paychex (and your employees) are screwed. The IT security behind the scenes is a mess. One longtime CISO left, then another came in for a few months but left after he saw rampant issues and incompetence. IT basically allows access to everybody and there are many copies of unencrypted data everywhere you look. Those of us who know what we are doing cannot stop all the ignorant bozoes from doing stupid things. It's just a matter of time before theres a huge breach...

We at Shear Pleasure Have had Shannon G as our customer service rep for Paychex. She is Paychex best by far. She has made our payroll system simple, I can ask for no more than that. Very busy but had to write this review. We are at Paychex because of her efforts. Thank you Renee and Craig of Shear Pleasure

You are completely wrong as Paychex PEO does allow our clients to self retain their own Worker’s Compensation policy. In addition, the federal taxes do not get collected a second time as long as you provide a year to date report showing what taxes I’ve already been paid. Don’t go with the wrong PEO, use Paychex to save your company thousands of dollars versus a broker that had no leverage and just gets paid a commission

Do not do business with this truly evil company. Rude and insulting is how you will be treated. They just treated me that way a few minutes ago!

Paychexflex employees that answer the phone are about 66 percent very rude and I was never able to get a solution to my problem! Avoid this awful company.

We left after we migrated to Flex...they "fixed" what was never broken in Preview and rolled out Flex which is complete garbage. Now trying to get information from someone at Paychex like a W2 is a pain in the butt, reports needed for audits or Federally mandated reports forget it, and then they snidely say You arent even a client anymore. It's like "yeah I'm aware of that as I am the one that made the switch because your service and software suck and that's why we left you after 22 years."

Stay away AT ALL COSTS. My company used Paychex from April 1st 2019 - June 14th 2019 and I'm still dealing with ramifications by their malpractice and wrongdoing. I filed a BBB case against them in June 2019 and they didn't resolve it until November...5 months. No one at this company is competent nor do they take responsibility for their actions. They continually push the blame to another individual and tell you that you have to contact 3 different departments to get your answer. News flash Paychex, this is your company not mine, I'm paying you to do a service, it's your responsibility to conference call your own departments to find an answer to the problems you created, not mine. To save you a lot of pain and suffering in my story, I am now filing a lawsuit against Paychex Inc for $15,000 in the amount that it cost a 3rd party accountant to remedy their wrongdoing on our books. This company is bad news, stay FAR away.
