This is a wide spread job scam. Most of the time the scammers gets your email address from ads placed on Craigslist. Avoid any association with this scam and do not respond to any emails from HL Plastics If you already sent an email with your information they will promptly send you check to deposit once your job application is "accepted". Do not cash any checks received from the this "job". The scammers are issuing fraudulent checks using accounts of real companies. Once the bank finds out the the checks are fake or fraudulent they will reverse the deposit. Even know the money may show in your account initially, it will soon be taken out.

How do I spot a job scam?
1.) The message is for a position that you did not apply for
2.) The message is from or asking for a reply to an email address from a free email provider (ie: @yahoo.com, @gmail.com)
3.)The position is for a work at home job. Let's get real here most of these positions are hard to come by.
4.) The message provides no phone and/or no mailing address
5.) The company does not have a website or the website was created in the last year. Do a whois lookup to see when a domain was created.
6.) The job has few qualifications
7.) The message is written with poor english
8.) A google search for the company finds little or no history for the company

What should I do if I provided my information to scammers?
- Do not respond to further communications.
- If you sent bank Information: Call your bank immediately and tell them what happened. They should be able to change your account number or cancel your account.
- If you are still concerned you might want to enroll in credit monitoring such as LifeLock Identity Theft Prevention
- You can also file a claim with The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). They are probably overloaded with these types of claim though, so I would not expect an individual response. You can also contact the Better Business Bureau or your states attorney general's office
- Post a comment below with any information you have on this scam to inform other people to try and avoid any future victims. Post the email you received with exact wording if different from original posted so when people search for terms they find this warning.

Please read that i recently got approved as a Personal Assistant (P.A) and the charity just sounded soo fishey so i google and research everything online, even my boss screen name "sean11101[at]yahoo.com" found his myspace facebook, and wayn.com its alll soo fishy. The link i sent you above if the exact same email Sean Knowles one think is that the letter was the EXACT same letter i received. but with different names!
the scam supposedly goes like this that get in as there "PA", they send u a 500 check/ and its pt job, that draws u in. It is said for you to go deposit the checks and start buying toys for this "Orphanage Motherless Charity Home" it doesnt exist!!

I also got this scam this morning. I checked the company name on Google first, and found your blog. Will see if their willing to give out their information to contact them by 7 see how much moringormation i can get from them. Maybe I'll have info to give to the police. One more disapointment from Craigslist !!

WOW ! I receive this email right after i sent an email with my resume. I saw this listing on Craiglist as well ! I need a job so bad, I used Craiglist and now all I get is scams !!!! UGHHHHHH I wonder if Criaglist knows about this

I have also recieved checks in the mail and paper work about the same thing but diferent companies

I received the same email from HL Plastics. I was excited I was being considered for the Accounts Receivable Manager position. It's truly sad there are these scams out there, when people are despirately searching for jobs.
I've been searching craigslist for jobs, and this isn't the first scam email I've received. Maybe craigslist isn't the place to search.

I got this today, i can't see anyone really falling for it. But they keep sending them so the emails must work sometimes.

I received this message in my email today. And I know it's a scam because it asks me to "CASH CHECKS". Anybody asking a person to do this type of thing is being scammed. And to think these companies are spending $25.00 to place these ads on CL . . . stupid people, and the ones who respond with their personal information are even moreso. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYONE, ANYWHERE, AT ANY TIME TO GET A JOB!! Good luck job seekers; we are all in the same boat.
