This is a wide spread job scam. Most of the time the scammers gets your email address from ads placed on Craigslist. Avoid any association with this scam and do not respond to any emails from HL Plastics If you already sent an email with your information they will promptly send you check to deposit once your job application is "accepted". Do not cash any checks received from the this "job". The scammers are issuing fraudulent checks using accounts of real companies. Once the bank finds out the the checks are fake or fraudulent they will reverse the deposit. Even know the money may show in your account initially, it will soon be taken out.

How do I spot a job scam?
1.) The message is for a position that you did not apply for
2.) The message is from or asking for a reply to an email address from a free email provider (ie: @yahoo.com, @gmail.com)
3.)The position is for a work at home job. Let's get real here most of these positions are hard to come by.
4.) The message provides no phone and/or no mailing address
5.) The company does not have a website or the website was created in the last year. Do a whois lookup to see when a domain was created.
6.) The job has few qualifications
7.) The message is written with poor english
8.) A google search for the company finds little or no history for the company

What should I do if I provided my information to scammers?
- Do not respond to further communications.
- If you sent bank Information: Call your bank immediately and tell them what happened. They should be able to change your account number or cancel your account.
- If you are still concerned you might want to enroll in credit monitoring such as LifeLock Identity Theft Prevention
- You can also file a claim with The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). They are probably overloaded with these types of claim though, so I would not expect an individual response. You can also contact the Better Business Bureau or your states attorney general's office
- Post a comment below with any information you have on this scam to inform other people to try and avoid any future victims. Post the email you received with exact wording if different from original posted so when people search for terms they find this warning.

I got an email from this "scam" company earlier this week, the man's name was "Ben Van". It did seem shady, but I decided to play along anyway, as long as I wasn't asked for any personal info. I wasted my time filling out a questionnaire, and the next day, received an email that their "board of directors" had decided that I was the right one for the job. By that point, I stopped being in denial and realized that this was full of shit, and Googled "HL Plastics". I'm sorry that I wasted my time, I wish I'd Googled first thing. Thankfully I didn't submit any financial information.

Thanks for all these posts. I got the same email from H L Plastics for an administrative assistant position. I thought it sounded too good to be true, so I asked them for the name of the Human Resources person who was trying to hire me and the physical address and phone number of their company. I also told them I had to check it out with the BBB and my bank before I would accept any money from them. Thank God I didn't send the personal info they asked for. But they do have my resume, so there's a lot of info on it. However, they have no banking info, no SSN and no driver's license number, so maybe I am safe. I've been looking for work for a long time and I get about 10 of these scams a day...usually from Craigslist.

I actually went through giving them my information. They sent me a check, for $2,444.00. He told me my first assignment was to cash the check. Everything on the check seemed legit. I had my neighbor do some research on it because at the time i didn't have a computer and did the application at the library she told me that is was a counterfeit check. They wanted me to cash is right away, take out $400.00 for myself, and send the rest to an orphanage for a kid dying of heart failure. That is just so heartless that they lie about something like that, and doing this to people who are desperate for money because their going through tough times. makes me sick.

Just applied two days ago and got a response that seemed too good to truth. I knew it, since there were some typos and the e-mail being sent from a google domain account, it says a lot about the credibility of the sender. Too bad nobody cares, but thanks to all of you for sharing your comments. This only confirmed my suspicion of this being a scam. By the way, the "company" is called "JWill Comp Ltd"
