This is a wide spread job scam. Most of the time the scammers gets your email address from ads placed on Craigslist. Avoid any association with this scam and do not respond to any emails from HL Plastics If you already sent an email with your information they will promptly send you check to deposit once your job application is "accepted". Do not cash any checks received from the this "job". The scammers are issuing fraudulent checks using accounts of real companies. Once the bank finds out the the checks are fake or fraudulent they will reverse the deposit. Even know the money may show in your account initially, it will soon be taken out.

How do I spot a job scam?
1.) The message is for a position that you did not apply for
2.) The message is from or asking for a reply to an email address from a free email provider (ie: @yahoo.com, @gmail.com)
3.)The position is for a work at home job. Let's get real here most of these positions are hard to come by.
4.) The message provides no phone and/or no mailing address
5.) The company does not have a website or the website was created in the last year. Do a whois lookup to see when a domain was created.
6.) The job has few qualifications
7.) The message is written with poor english
8.) A google search for the company finds little or no history for the company

What should I do if I provided my information to scammers?
- Do not respond to further communications.
- If you sent bank Information: Call your bank immediately and tell them what happened. They should be able to change your account number or cancel your account.
- If you are still concerned you might want to enroll in credit monitoring such as LifeLock Identity Theft Prevention
- You can also file a claim with The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). They are probably overloaded with these types of claim though, so I would not expect an individual response. You can also contact the Better Business Bureau or your states attorney general's office
- Post a comment below with any information you have on this scam to inform other people to try and avoid any future victims. Post the email you received with exact wording if different from original posted so when people search for terms they find this warning.

I recieved this email too. I responded telling them it sounds like a scam and if it actually isn't they should review some things. It's so horrible that people are making such efforts to take advantage of people who are already in a desperate enough situation to actually try this! And what makes it worse it that most companies want you to apply online - which is where all the scams are!

I have been applying for jobs for 11 months now and have received several scam emails after applying for jobs off craigslist. They never speak very good English and I always google their company and information.

This is the second time I've been sent a scam email from a job listing on Craigslist IN A WEEK. Yahoo Answers confirmed my suspicions the first time; you confirmed it this time. Thanks for taking the time out to do that!

Here is the most recent one I have received from a Craigslist ad in Memphis.
So far I am just playing along with them. They have not asked for any personal information other than phone #. They got my address from the resume.
In an instant messaging "interview" I was told I was hired and would be paid $17/hour. Which I found to be different than other scams, but I am still playing along.
In the IM "interview" and answered his questions. But so far he has not brought up asking for banking information or telling me I will need to deposit checks into my own account.
He has made it sound so far that it is going to be an on-line computer tech support position.
I am curious to see the email he said he will be sending me tomorrow morning.
The following is a partial transcript of the IM "interview" -

I got the same message after applying to a data entry clerk position on craig's list. I think this is the second posting i found like this. The first one straight out asked for bank account information IN THE INTERVIEW, which was conducted online via yahoo messenger. company name on that one was Gentech (web site given is gttech.com. has nothing to do with data entry. Is a web design web page. Always a good idea to do the research on these kinds of things.

I received the same type of letter when I thought I was apply for a data entry position. The amount per month was different but everything else the same. Really glad I decided to look up the company before doing anything else! This is really sad that people & companies are doing this to people really looking for a legitimate job!!

I cannot believe that Craigslist cannot put some type of fraud monitoring in place to stop this stuff. I received the same scam e-mail and this is now the second time in 5 months that I've gotten this type of scam.
I realize that no online service can stop all types of scams and frauds 100 percent, but if e-Bay and companies like that can do it, so can Craigslist.
Craigslist could easily add IP tracking software to their website and when something like this happens, they can "nab" them... and it always comes from the U.K.

Belinda I got the exact same thing I applied for the Next Level Fitness and Wellness center receptionist job...and got all this crap about ARM I was like wow that would be great an all but that's not what I applied for ad the company was some Plastics company...I saw that and had my gram take a look at it and sure enough she agreed and told me to research it on Google and I found this!!!!!
Man do ppl in other countries think we are that dumb to fall for something like that!!!!! LOSERS

I got something similar too. Something in my gut told me it was a scam so I decided to google the name of the company. Thanks for sharing!

I recieved this email from H L Plastic and it was from a guy Ricky Johnson. I'm not gunna lie I was kinda gased about the job because I have been looking for a job as an administrative assistant now that I know this I am going to be more careful with what I respond to.
