So your Facebook info was mined by a data company, eh? NO!!!! You mean by posting info about yourself, your family, your friends, your thoughts, your political leanings and just about everything else in cyberspace and you never thought some entity would have the audacity to cull that info for commercial/political gain? Seriously, you didn't think that, did you?

Social media is the embodiment of the old adage, "If you don't want anyone to know your secret, DON'T TELL ANYONE."

Posting to the internet on a daily or frequent basis is by definition rife with the possibility that someone, somewhere is going to access your posts. Sure, maybe you want to post to a specific audience, but we're not talking about snail mail here, folks. You're not sending a specific addressee a letter. IT'S THE INTERNET, and everyone with some form of internet access will have the chance to read your posts (either legally or illegally.)

Bottom line: Buyer beware. If you don't want your info mined, don't post. Don't logon anywhere. Get rid of your laptop, desktop and smartphone. And while you're at it, trash your landline, smart TV, credit cards, bank accounts, utility bills, car loans, student loans and every other traceable source of info.

Wait a minute... I didn't want anyone to know how I feel about internet postings. Do you think someone might have access to this post? Maybe they'll conclude I'm a closet Democrat (I'M NOT!) Oh, well, too late...
