I had to ban you for this message submission. People need to learn how to follow the guidelines.... The status submissions form is for status submisssions only, not backseat modding, This comment feature was implemented for that purpose.

You ban people for that yet racist comments get left on this site? Stay classy!

You smug people got to stop the "You ban people for x but not x" crap... I ban people for the breaking the rules clearly outlined . If I miss something post a comment on the status message you think I missed.. not on a completely different one. Otherwise, I have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm guilty of having done the same thing myself, not realizing at the time that there was another place to make such a comment (Status Message Board Comment).
I honestly never knew there was a rules page. The link is in a conspicuous place on the page but to me it's just background noise, just like the ads.

You can say, "You didn't follow the rules, you're banned". But the posting person can be completely honest and say they didn't know this. It's not like they were foul mouthed or anything. I can think of a whole bunch of other people that should be banned for some of the things they put on here.

You need to try to figure out a way to make the rules better known without it being intrusive upon the layout of your site.

Keep up the good work TJ. The new comment feature for each post is nice. Maybe it will help cut down on posts such as this in the future.

If you have reasons why you think people should be banned I'd like to hear them. However, I don't want to ban anybody just because they submitted a bad message because then we may lose some good contributors too (that doesn't mean I won't remove the bad contributions if they break any of the other rules). The three ways you would be banned right now I think are common sense and I like it that way.

I understand that people may not see the rules, though short of making it harder to submit a message, I really can't do anymore then I already have. The actual submission form says "Use this form for submissions only" in the input area before you start typing and has "Read the rules" right next to the submit button. If people don't see that they will after they are banned.

That being said, for the people who I have banned and then wrote me afterwords I have unbanned all of them ( I only do this once per person though). I also try to look at a users past contributions before banning someone, if they all suck or they have none then they banned, otherwise, I give them another chance.
