MBNA America Bank, N.A. Sucks

Yeah I tried that before. If you just ignore them they call back EVERY day. That is why you probably get so many unknown callers. I find it much more effective to answer it then tell them to put you on their no call list for EVERY thing they are offering. I did this and they havent called back since. I find the phone ringing and having to clear the caller id much more annoying then having to deal with telemarketer one time. I just hate that they sell your information and do not care about their image. Further more the programs they offer are essentially worthless to the average Joe since its nothing you can't check by getting your free credit report each year.

Those calls and unapproved "features" are why I cancelled my card. A year after I cancelled, I get a call on Friday from MBNA saying I haven't paid my bill in four months! I had moved since so I didn't get the notice that they had reactivated my account after a charge went through on it. So not only did they allow a charge on a cancelled credit card, when they discovered I'd moved, they waited four months to try and contact me because "it is the customer's responsibility to call us with an address change if you don't get a bill" because clearly I was supposed to know psycically that my cancelled account had been re-opened. They called me on a Friday afternoon and when I told them it was an unauthorized charge that shouldn't have gone through anyway because the account was CLOSED they told me I had til Monday to dispute the charge!

Hey, gotta way to stop them from calling if you can keep them on the phone long enough to get an address. Just b.s. them until you can get a physical address and then send them a certified letter telling them to stop calling and list your number in the letter. If they keep calling after you get the info that they signed you can SUE the crap outta them. And lots of people have won this case! And to stop these unauthorized bs on the card, get a lawyer friend to simply write a letter to this certified address telling them not to add any additional fees (if they refuse to take it off) and they will not hesitate to do it. It's crazy that this day in age with a business that you have to threaten people to get them to do anything.....good luck!

Best way to get rid of TELEMARKETER"S that I have found....Let them start their initial spill...Break their conversation with "Wait just a minute" and immediately lay the phone down (preferably next to the playing TV or radio) and just walk away. After a while (usually less than 5 minutes) check and see if they are still there. Usually only takes once. Had 1 that took twice but no more calls from them. Now I get maybe 1 telemarketer every month or so.

MBNA is sleazy! One of their employees called a professional colleague of mine. Saw her contact details along with my name on a Board of Directors website. Introduced himself as a long-ago friend of mine, then asked my colleague if she would provide my current phone number "because he would like to re-connect with me." All this to collect an overdue payment. Seriously?!

I have an MBNA card. You have caller ID? The little bit it cost is worth it. Less headaches. Just don't answer. That's what I do. We are in business for ourselves & get so many "UNKNOWN CALLER" calls every day. Don't have the time for the nonsense.
