PLOUGH is the correct spelling, if you're in the UK.
Plow is the incorrect American way.

It's a very old joke - but obviously 'plough' is the English (and therefore correct) version. Shame on Spelling Police.....

To be honest, I've never understood whether it matters how old or new a joke is. There will always be people who haven't heard it before and so it's been worth it to get a smile/laugh off them. For those who have heard it before, they simply move on to the next.
