It has been brought to my attention that scammers are emailing people job offers for "Canon Oil Inc" accounts payable positions. These job offers are scams. In some instances they are receiving your email information from Craigslist.org.
Here is a copy of the email received from one of our visitors:

Your resume was sent to us through craigslist Recuiters Platform, we viewed
your resume and we think you are more than qualified for what we are looking
for. We are sorry for the late reply of the resume you sent to us .
The positions include Accountant, Sales and Marketing Executives in the US. Our
representative will be responsible for meeting with clients in their locality
and receiving payments on our behalf and remitting the payment to Head of
Accounts. This is a contract-to-hire position which is a 1 month trail after
which the position is made full time and you can work from home and this might
not affect your current job status. You can visit our

open job position.
These scammers are probably going to either get you to wire them money or steal your bank information. Do not reply to these emails. Never send your bank information or wire money to people you met through the internet.
They stole most of the text on their website from a reputable company : ramosoil.com
What should I do if I provided my information to scammers?
- Do not respond to further communications.
- If you sent bank Information: Call your bank immediately and tell them what happened. They should be able to change your account number or cancel your account.
- If you are still concerned you might want to enroll in credit monitoring such as LifeLock Identity Theft Prevention
- You can also file a claim with The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). They are probably overloaded with these types of claim though, so I would not expect an individual response.
- Post a comment below with any information you have on this scam to inform other people to try and avoid any future victims. Post the email you received with exact wording if different from original posted so when people search for terms they find this warning.

I received the same email today but it was under a different name. The company was called MBA Associates.

Alisha and others, if you received a scam with a different company name please be sure to post the company name or the email in a comment so people can find this page in search results. This could help potential victims who receive the same scam email as you. Post the name/text exactly as it appears in email.

I responded to the Administrative Clerk position that was posted on the Craig list. I questioned the e-mail when it started taking about, "Interview and Instructions will be scheduled for you when you get payment for the company, get payment from our client and customers as your first assignment for the CRS Officer. Deduct 10 % which will be your percentage/pay on Payment processed." Why would a company ask someone to accept payment from their clients and deduct 10% without an interview and instructions? When I saw the e-mail address tobspedi[at]yahoo.com confirmed it. If this is a real company, why use a yahoo account? I tried to go to the web site which did not exist.

I received an email similar to that one but instead of collecting the payment on their behalf, he requested from me to print out a checks and mail them to the suppliers in the USA ............here is the text of the email:

I CANT BELIEVE THEY STILL ARE AT THIS! I think that Craig's list should post more of this info when you click classifieds. I know they already state on the top of each one to be careful with scams but they should post a summary of these scams at least. They are very popular. I get at least 10 a week, I'm not exaggerating either. Its so sad how they take advantage of people trying to make a living in this economy. I am constantly applying to look for work and they are getting very good on making it sound legit in the initial post. Here is another one! By the way, does anyone know if they can track me down if I reply? I replied letting them know it was a scam from an email that I dont really use and I didnt enter my name. Yes. This is the same posting that I just received yesterday (which by the way, was on a Sunday morning at 5am). They went under HL Plastics. I'd been applying for jobs lately and I really didn't think twice about it. I sent my general information like name and address, but I'm not sure what a person can really do with that. What made my light go off was the wording that read "The salary will be sent in the form of wire transfer directly to your account" however, they did not ask for any account information in this e-mail. I believe this is their suttle approach to building a bit of trust through a very short term e-mail correspondance between them and the victim. I'm expecting that they would try to hit me with the account information during their second reply to me or sometime after that. I'm glad I did take a minute to try and research the company.

Yes i did respond to a craigslist ad and ONLY sent my business email. nothing else. when they sent a letter back, it stated that their human resources dept had reviewed my resume, which i found amusing, being that i'd never submitted one. i asked them for more information on their company before i would disclose personal info. the email response they sent back was in such poorly written english that it tipped me off then and there. plus, they made references to wiring and bank transfers which got me wondering where all of this info would have been kept. On MY computer?? not on your nelly! any company that hints of acquiring banking info from any applicant is a major REDFLAG!

Like i said ealier you will be working from home and you will be printing the checks usings your computer and your Printer... I Hope you have them. You will as well be needing a software.. its called Versa Check Software Platinium 08.. This software enables you to print checks and guide you through the check writing process.
Its only recommended that you use Versa Check Software for printing checks.. you can get any software at any store close to you as far as the software enables you to print checks
You Will be reimbursed for buying the software.. the Reimbursement fee comes along with the first week pay.
If you know you cant affrod to put just about $60 upfront to buy the software, Or atleast $20 to get the check papers as i have a download link to the software which you can use for about 14 days. Pls dont bother contacting me.

I received an answer to a job on Craigs List and went to look up Canon Oil before answering and thanks to you found out it is a scam. I thought it was strange since the grammar in the ad was really bad. I will just delete it and tell Craigs List.

Just wanted to post that I received this same email, but they were trying to pass of as a cosmetic company. I thought the wordings was suspect so I checked out the address given in the email, it did not match the co. name. So it looks as thought they have moved on to having another name for their company.
