I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I've been running ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will
It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die
Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will
I go to the movie and I go downtown
somebody keep telling me don't hang around
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will
Then I go to my brother
And I say brother help me please
But he winds up knockin' me
Back down on my knees
Ohhhhhhhhh.....
There been times that I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

That songs makes a powerful statement. A change has come. I am proud to be an American. There is so much to look forward to and when Sam Cook wrote that song, he had no ideal that there could be a change. I love that song. Just listen to his words. The song has feeling and meanings.

And Adam Lambert did this song proud on American Idol

Adam Lambert did not do a change is going to come proud. He is not soulful and he does not have that hook in his voice to sing a Sam Cook song. He do not compare to the real deal. Sorry Lisa, but you don't have soul yourself to think Adam did A change is going to come proud

This was sung at my cousin's funeral yesterday. Extremely moving especiall knowing the challenges he went through in his life. Most music of this day cannot begin to compare to the poignancy of that era. This has proven to be a very powerful message to listeners.
