Match.com Sucks
I recently paid for a Match.com subscription for six months on sale for $30 bucks. I didn't use it much and pretty much forgot about it until my card was charged after the subscription ended for a full year subscription for $113. Absolutely no warning email was given and support was very rude and unapologetic. I ended up having to issue a charge back through my credit card, which had a special handling procedure for Match since so many people end up having to issue charge backs.
Match.com change your unethical business model and earn your revenue fair!

I received about a dozen winks and IMs from super model women hundreds of miles away with absurdly broad age preferences (ie. 20-25 years). When I got one IM that I thought was fake, I clicke on the tab the company provides to report a scam. The computer generated response was that the user I was complaining about does not exist, so the complaint could not go ahead. I was amazed. Liars and thieves did not walk through my door, I payed for them to come in by joining the site. I am convinced that the company itself generated fake winks and IMs to keep people interested. I sent a couple of emails threatening to report the company to the BBB and I no longer get all the winks and IMs from young super models. Fascinating.

They are very misleading. I went on to cancel within the timeframe. Then an offer to do 3 months for $35 popped up. I accepted that after thinking I had cancelled the first reacuuring charge. No they tell me a month later when I have 2 $35 charges. One for the 3rd month then the 3 month promo kicked in. Very disceptive. What a scam company,

I joined then requested my account end after the 3 month subscription. Got a sorry to see you go email which for legal purposes is binding. It worked fine. All the features were available, all the buttons in the top nav bar still worked but the first button does say reactivate. You can run your cursor over it if you want to know when it ends. Have fun with it. Some of the profiles are fake...yup, get over it.

Horrible Company. Joined on 3 day "free" trial, decided it wasn't for me after a day and cancelled by phone. Was told as I'd used the service I would be charged the 3 months I'd apparently signed up for. "Shocking" isn't a strong enough word for the service these total rip off pirates provide or should I don't provide. Customer services were rude and brought me to tears when they were adament I wasn't getting a refund for a service I didn't want. I would rather the money went to charity than this vile excuse for a company.

Match is a complete scam. Was on this site for 3 month membership, cancelled my subscription 3 days prior to expiring and my account was automatically renewed. Called to advise them I cancelled via online and they said it was never cancelled. BS!! I demanded my money back since I followed the appropriate steps to cancel and did not log on after the expiration. They gave me such a hard time...ridiculous customer service!!! Finally refunded my money and filed a complaint with the BBB. Also, scam artists are abundant!! Be careful!! By reading the profile you can usually pick up on the poor grammar, most of them claim to be widowed with a child or some sad story making you feel sorry for them. Just wondering, match says they cannot control scam artists and fake profiles. I notified them of several scam artists and the accounts were deleted within a few days but were back on with the same picture just a different username, how do they allow that?? And how do these scam artists pay??

I hate match.com. They are a total rip-off scheme.

Worst experience of my life. Total waste of time - there must be something like 500 women for every man on match.com - you don't stand a chance. So where else to go? Bars? Clubs? Where are the women in this world? How the hell does anyone ever find a partner? Guess I'll just go back to reading and computer games.

Oops, that should obviously read "500 men for every woman".

Wow....lots of angry people....check yourselves guys...it a guy, or girl does not want to get together with you maybe it's something in your profile, or in the way you interact with people. I have cancelled meetings with people because I got a weird vibe from them....it's just the way it is, and you can't take it personal. I agree that you get more attention when your subscription is running out, and that there are a lot of people out there who are single for very good reasons, but there are normal and nice people on too, who are looking for companionship as well. Just like out in the real world. Hang in there, if I could meet a nice guy on the site, so can anyone.

I'm sure the website, just like all dating websites, is a ripoff. That said, their practice is NOT illegal, so don't go blasting your expertise in legal matters. If the practices were illegal, they would not be doing them, plain and simple. The company is too large and well known for such things to go unnoticed by those authorities.
Second, the information a user needs to know about refunds may be hidden within the EULA, but it's still there. The purpose of the EULA is for you to read it. If you're the type of person that signs a contract before reading it, I pity you.

I agree. How can this be legal? It also means that they keep your credit card details which is dangerous.

I signed up last night, was horrified by what I saw on the site, realized that ive been trying this off and on for years and havent met even one guy that I could see myself with long term. So I changed my mind and called this morning to get a refund. No dice! I thought this was a free country? If u are unhappy with a product or service, you get ur $ back. Not so with match.com.
PS ive met nothing but weirdos on this site! Dont know why tjought I would try again. Hope is dangerous! These sites play.on peoples fears of ending up alone!

Just had an issue trying to get a refund. Not happy with the service (no luck making a connection) and Match.com refused to even prorate their refund. At least, if they had prorated a refund for me I would have told others who asked me if they should open a profile on their site to at leat try it out for themselves. Now, I will tell everyone who asks to stear clear of match.com as the customer is never right is their policy.

Credit cards should not be able to have automatic deductions without authorisation from the card holder each month

It is true: Match.com is not a good place to be. They misrepresented a "free trial" period and ripped me off for about $130. Their reps are rude and disrespectful. I never managed to date even ONE gal on the site; most I contacted never replied, and the replies I did get were canned, as though computer generated. I believe most of the profiles are fake. Don't bother with Match.com --save your money!

I tried to cancel my subscription just 11 days after my automatic renewal. The agent said that if you send an email after a 10 day period you can not receive a refund. Very inflexible and poor customer service. I would recommend you stay away from this company. I was charged 59.00 for 3 months!
