Match.com Sucks
I recently paid for a Match.com subscription for six months on sale for $30 bucks. I didn't use it much and pretty much forgot about it until my card was charged after the subscription ended for a full year subscription for $113. Absolutely no warning email was given and support was very rude and unapologetic. I ended up having to issue a charge back through my credit card, which had a special handling procedure for Match since so many people end up having to issue charge backs.
Match.com change your unethical business model and earn your revenue fair!

Match is a complete waste of time. I am a 31 yr old male who originally had semi-good self-esteem before doing online dating. Not even ONE girl who I emailed responded to my 50+ emails over a period of a couple of months. I'm a decently attractive guy but feel like the ugliest guy in the world after joining this site. Only the women who are single moms (usually over 35) or overweight women seem to apparently be interested in me. I'm sure there are some decent women on this site but I sure haven't found a single one who will even reply to my email. I totally feel for the guys out there like me who just want to get a freakin chance with a semi-decent girl who isn't out for either Mr. Universe or a guy making six figures. Major THUMBS DOWN from me!!!

That's what I wonder too regarding fake profiles... I sent 4 girls winks but none of them checked out my profile, and I'm a handsome guy I think? Hmm. I feel bad for spending 35 dollars on a month's subscription. At least I used paypal.
I'm deaf and it's not 'that easy' to meet girls at the food store or whatever. Or maybe I need to grow a bigger set of nuts?
Sigh. Feels bad man.

TBH, I actually found my partner 6 months ago on match.com, and we are going great.... thanks match.com - UNTIL TODAY! £149 OUT OF MY F*****G ACCOUNT even though I had unsubscribed and hidden my profile!!! You have to ring them to cancel it. DO NOT USE MATCH.COM, OR, IF YOU DO - MAKE SURE YOU CANCEL THE SUBSCRIPTION!

I feel like a moron for not checking out Match.com before agreeing to a trial 3 month subscription. I've ended up experiencing the same tribulation (as everyone else here) trying to cancel my subscription! Match.com has their "policy" embedded in the "Terms of Use", section 12 (b) and (f)...in perfect "legaleze". These "terms" you agree to when you join make them pretty much bullet proof and unobligated to refund money ESPECIALLY if you don't jump through ALL the hoops to MAKE SURE your account is completely shut down and UNUSED!!! If you do anything on your account, even AFTER you cancel (because the site will allow you to do that - tricky buggers!), then you're CAUGHT in their catch 22. No refund for you!!! DO NOT USE MATCH.COM - they are unethical and have no qualms in ripping you off.

Sure is pretty sad when you go on a paying site and you are billed for longer than you subscribed for, i am glad i read some of these complaints. I'll stay single forever rather than go through that crap.

NEVER DO MORE THAN A ONE MONTH SUBSCRIPTION WITH MATCH. IF YOU'RE CRAZY ENOUGH TO SIGN UP FOR MORE THAN ONE MONTH, GET READY TO BE LOCKED IN FOR A LONG TIME! I DID TURN OFF AUTO RENEW AND THEY STILL DID IT. They auto renewed my membership for 90 days with no email and said NO partieal refunds. Predatory business practices. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ANYONE???

So glad I found this... was just about ready to sign up when I thought I would check to see if there was a way around paying. Too bad there wasn't some kind of code we could all use to work around it.. but for the time being... I think I'll pass on this Match.com thing

Plenty Of Fish sucks just as bad as match but for different reasons..

Guess I never realized how many men were looking for women.
Just be yourself, work hard, treat the lady right, then walk away with the attitude 'it's ok if I don't see you again' - she'll be interested.

I agree. Match.com. Don't touch them with a barge pole. I signed up for a short period. Decided I wouldn't use it and so shut it down. Up to now they've had over £160 out of my account. Strict no refund policy. It is wrong in the extreme to open up pipelines into peoples bank accounts like this. Actually...on reflection, very clever! Crooked...but legal. They're probably making more money than Pablo Escobar the columbian drug dealer. Can't imagine they'll last long because EVENTUALLY the word will get out.

This place effin SUCKS!!!! They flat out state that if you are not happy for whatever reason you can cancel within 3 days. I tried to cancel on the 2nd day as there were VERY weird, creepy people trying to contact me..The "customer service" rep (LOL, what a JOKE) kept sending pre-typed answers...TOTAL AND COMPLETE rip off. SAVE your money, time and oxygen go anywhere BUT here.

Here's the issue I'm having with Match.com...I will get a wink or a message but when I go look at the guys profile I get a message that says : Oooops sorry the profile you are looking for cannot be found please try another profile yet I just received a message from that person so I really don't get it. Does that means they're scammers? If that's the case then Match has an awful lot of them & for a site that I pay for that is not acceptable. They should have much better filtering tools.

I've been on and off match for about 8 years so thought I'd throw in my thoughts: first off i think everyone is right, their practices I consider unethical but they ALL do it. I get around it by using the mail-in a money order option. It's a pain and I pay a few extra dollars to get one but the piece-of-mind is worth it. Second, I too have experienced the winks and e-mails of what I believe are fakes (from match.com) or scammers of some sort. But I also have met some real women that while did not work for me were really nice. I bypass the professional daters (the ones looking for a meal/drink ticket) by insisting the first meet up is at a very public coffee shop, 2nd and maybe 3rd at free things like bicycling--the pros will drop you fast...but if she's honestly interested: no problem. Bottom line: online or not it's not easy finding the right one.

Match.com sucks no good looking girls. the old and fat ones r the 0nes who talk to you. all the girls on there are looking for a free dinner ticket and a steady paycheck.ALL DATING SITES SUCK

Match.com should be outlawed and run off the Internet. The practice of billing without prior warning is deceptive and at the very least cruel. I am sick of them and hope that others will heed this advice... DO NOT GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD NUMBER, YOUR MONEY WILL BE GONE IN A BLINK OF AN EYE WITHOUT AN OPTION FOR A REFUND!!!!

I just got off the phone with match.com. I agree that what they are doing is not right. I signed up for the 6 month guarantee. I've only been on for 30 days and have decided that I no longer want to be a member. They WILL NOT give me a refund!!!! I PREPAID for 6 months and only used 1. What gives them the right to keep my money????? I can't get a refund because I sent an email. What's that all about???? Of course, I sent an email. To keep within the guidelines for the guarantee, you have to send at least 5 emails per month (as well as have your photo and profile visible).
Both people that I talked to at match were nice and agreed with what I was saying, but couldn't do anything about it. What really made me mad was that the 2nd person that I talked to hung up on me! There was no need for that!
So, here is the warning: don't sign up for longer than a month, because if you sign up for the 6 months and happen to get lucky and find your ideal mate in your first month or two, you'll be paying the same as if you found them in month 11 or 12.

Agree with JDP... Just finished my three month subscription and could not get away from this site fast enough. His comments reflect my experience, as well.

Anyone delusional enough to actually think they will find love on match.com deserves to lose their money. They are a profit driven company that attracts people who are too stupid, lazy or cheaters who can't interact with real people. So, of course, the majority don't read the fine print.
