Match.com Sucks
I recently paid for a Match.com subscription for six months on sale for $30 bucks. I didn't use it much and pretty much forgot about it until my card was charged after the subscription ended for a full year subscription for $113. Absolutely no warning email was given and support was very rude and unapologetic. I ended up having to issue a charge back through my credit card, which had a special handling procedure for Match since so many people end up having to issue charge backs.
Match.com change your unethical business model and earn your revenue fair!

I opened up a 6 month subscription w/ match.com in spring of '07. I used it for several months and then just stopped accessing my account. I haven't logged on for 1 year. I just got charged for $101 yesterday. No 'your subscription is about to expire' or 'your account will auto-renew' emails from them at all. I haven't received any correspondence from match since my initial 6 month subscription expired. Now out of the blue I've been charged. I called thier customer service dept. and got a lady who was very short with me (apparently they must get these types of calls frequently and brace themselves). It was clear that she was just waiting for me to lose my cool so she could get nasty. I did not.
If on the SAME DAY as your account is 'auto-renewed' without any advance warning you call in and say you did not authorize, nor intend you use the service you should be refunded! It is crooked and unethical. I despise those tactics. Match.com has no shame. They should be investigated and required to refund all previous subscribers who were unwittingly charged again. Match.com STAY OUT OF MY POCKET!

MATCH.COM IS A RIP OFF THEY HAVE BEEN CHARGING MY ACCOUNT FOR THE LAST 9 MONTHS!!! I ONLY SIGNED UP FOR ONE MONTH!! I ASKED FOR A REFUND AND THEY INFORMED ME THEY HAVE A NO REFUND POLICY. I AM CURRENTLY ON THE PHONE WITH MY BANK CONTESTING THE CHARGES!! WHY DO THEY FEEL THE NEED TO RIP PEOPLE OFF

I bought a one-month subscription ($40)and 3 days later was locked out of my account. Can't log in. The message says my email address (where they JUST emailed me my PASSWORD!) is not in their database. No acknowledgments to my inquiries, zero customer care service. In the meantime I'm paying for a dead account. No phone numbers. They're worse than Amazon. My only recourse is to pay my bank to block further debits from them. Sheesh. Buyer beware when it comes to match.com

>WHY DO THEY FEEL THE NEED TO
>RIP PEOPLE OFF
Because their service sucks. Plain and simple. I was a match.com subscriber and I can tell you first-hand it is bullshit. Fake profiles, fake responses, all for a ridiculous amount of money. Just like FreeCreditReport.com automatically signs you up for SHIT you didn't expect or want, Match.com auto-bills you to look at phony profiles. Screw the internet and all these scheisters.

I would like to thank all of your for this information. I was thinking about subscribing for their service but I decided to check the internet first and see if they have any unhappy customers. I will not use there service. I'm glad they don't have my credit card information.

We should use visa gift cards when making purchases online from questionable companies. We can purchas visa gift cards at any domination and they are not reloadable and when the money is gone companies can no longer collect from that card and we don't have to deal with that hassle that regular credit or debit cards have.

The girls on match were good at the beggining, now they are the worst, set up dates then dont confirm, email you then u dont hear from them after a generic response back from u like-hey great to hear from you, liked your profile, and u r very cute as well, how goes your week! nope, no response. much better to meet people out and more fun too

Match.com sucks. All dating sites suck for me. I never get any responses. the ones i like don't respond and the ones i hate look at your profile yet don't say anything. what a waste of money. time to find real life girls. i'm a pretty good looking guy, as girls say, so why is it so hard for me to get even a date?!

I got you all topped. I signed up for 1 month, and it said I would get 3 days free, then I would be charged $35. I got the 3 days alright, as long as the charge to my card, however once I was charged, all my access got shut off: no emails, etc. I've sent in FIVE requests for assistance over the last week, and got 4 emails back, telling me to type my damn username in correctly, etc. Anyway, I basically got totally ripped the fuck off and they're not doing a damn thing. I will eventually have to sue apparently if I want my money back..

Yes, they are definitely unscrupulous and
have charged me a monthly fee having already paid for a six month sum in one payment. I will not renew again and will
stop further payments.

How RIDICULOUS do you all sound right now. If you put your credit card information on the internet to pay for anything MAYBE you should actually pay attention to the terms and conditions. I was on match.com it says it in BOLD letters as plain as day THREE seperate times that Match will automatically renew your acct AND it provides you with the cancellation date. You all complain about "its in the fine print," well maybe after realizing that a few hundred times you would READ IT!!?!? I am not saying match is perfect nor is it without fault but my goodness take some responsibility for yourselves. If something isn't working right on the site, contact customer care like you would for ANYTHING ELSE. Not a difficult concept.Grow up people.

Maybe you should READ the original post. Match.com was contacted and they were "Rude and unapologetic". Maybe you are happy with companies making their money by trying to scheme people into sale but I find it unethical and poor business. I know the terms are there but the fact that Match.com has autobill and refuse to offer refunds shows they have don't care about the customer they only care about the money. So either your employee of Match.com or you are just real stupid.

How is it a scheme if they TELL you THREE seperate times they are going to do it? I do not work for them nor do I give two craps about them. I just find it hilarious how no one takes responsibility for their mistakes nowadays. Of course match should do whatever they can to make their customers happy... but if it says that you need to cancel your account to stop the auto billing (which it does) then do it. Not difficult. Why should they give you a refund for something they told you they were going to do? Your fault you didn't cancel it, now you know better huh?
I never got ripped off or automatically renewed by them, guess that shows who the "stupid" one is.
Friday March 6, 2009 @ 10:45 AM
I know they state that they will have auto bill once the free trial runs out but the fact that they have to resort to auto billing unsuspecting customers to make their revenue is unethical and poor business. The fact that their customer service was rude and unapologetic when called reinstates their unethical and poor business. Yes, this is only my opinion and you are able to voice yours too but I know a lot of people would feel the same as me.
Saturday March 21, 2009 @ 02:21 PM
Their billing practices are illegal--I signed up one night and didn't like what I saw immediately so I requested a refund the next morning. They said they couldn't give me one so I had to call my credit card company and they initiated a chargeback. That's so slimy of them. They have a collection of women who haven't been on the site in years if at all. The fact that they try to deny refunds is illegal. If you purchase something and are not happy with it you have a right to your money back. Match is a lame joke of a site. I got my money back and now I'm going after them for a class action.

As a Match subsciber myself, I have found that if you let your subscription lapse, you tend to get emails and winks from prettyer than usual women. Strange how their profiles seem to disappear when you re-subscribe. There is also a policy of 6 months free if you chat to more than 5 people a month. Consequently, you get emails from people who have no interest in you, that are just seeking a free subscription. Match can be a ueful site, but it preys on the needs ind insecurity's of single people and can keave a very bitter taste in the mouth. Unscrupulous and unethical.......definately

Save your money and effort. These women are all self absorbed, neurotic and relationship challenged! There's a reason they are on there to begin with. Better off meeting someone in a bar!

YES! I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH YOU.
